National Coming Out Day Celebrated By LGBT And Other Communities

Oct 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Yesterday the Americans celebrated National Coming Out Day, the internationally observed civil awareness day for coming out and people discuss about gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual and trans-gender issues. The LGBT community has been active in recent times following the death of school and college students owing to continuous bullying they faced after they came out about their sexual orientation. National Coming Out Day is observed by the members of the LGBT communities and their supporters to celebrate the pride of their own orientation on October 11 every year or October 12 on United Kingdom.
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Friends club president Duke Lambert told a reputed media source in one of his interviews yesterday that the people who openly come out about their sexual orientation are battered by others every “single” day and hence they lose faith in themselves and the community. The GLBTF, as well as many other LGBT student groups hence welcomed the National Coming Out Day to make a way for the students who were not comfortable in speaking about their orientation. The National Coming Out Day saw many people discussing their story openly as they never got a chance to do so previously.
Duke Lambert expressed his condolence for Norman’s Zach Harrington and New Jersey native Tyler Clementi as took away their life after they were bullied by their fellow students after they came out about their sexuality. The president of GLBTF community said that if people tries to hide and pretend like everything else is going on smoothly and do not “recognize” the phase that the community is going through, then they are not honest at the end of the day. The president said that the main reason for celebrating National Coming Out Day is to acknowledge the whole fact of “coming out”. Even LGBT community is presently celebrating its Coming Out Week.
