Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Draws Crowd

July 4th, 2009 - 8:14 pm ICT by GD Tell a Friend -

nathans-hotdog-contest-chestnut On the 4th of July, another event is going to add to the list of celebratory factors, which is the IFOCE “Nathan’s International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest“. A huge turn out of 30,000 fans are estimated to be gathering for this very popular event, which will be held on the day that America celebrates its Independence Day. It will be held at the corner of the Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island in New York. On this day, the every nook and corner of the streets will be abuzz with all sort of activities, as Hot Dog eating fanatics gather together.

This year’s contest will once more see the return of the arch rivals Joey Chestnut (the winner of the contest last year) and former winner Takeru Kobayashi (of Japan), in this ‘eat-marathon’. These two champion gougers are supposed to be challenged by the new arrival Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus.

Bodog.com has fixed this year’s winning total at sixty one and a half hot dogs. From the ongoing “oddsmakers” at online super sports book, it seems like (as reported by Bodog.com) Joey Chestnut is 20/31 odds favorite over Kobayashi, the latter being placed at 21/20 on the Nathan betting board. All those who are rooting for the fresh arrival of Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus are getting 23/2 odds; the bets on anyone else making the field is 13/1 odds. If the gamblers at Nathan’s are looking for a hint, they should keep in mind that the last year’s event had ended with 59 1/2 hot dogs eaten. So,the conclusion can be made from this statistics that it is going to be a very unpredictable contest.
