Napkin counterfeit ring smashed

Beijing, Aug 22 (IANS) An underground network of workshops that made and sold counterfeit sanitary napkins worth more than 150 million yuan ($23 million) has been destroyed, the Shanghai Daily said Wednesday.

Forty-one suspects, including their ringleader, were caught in 17 provinces including Zhejiang, Hunan, Guangdong and Fujian as police raided their workshops, warehouses and homes, the daily said.

Police also confiscated their production equipment, five vehicles and 26 million pieces of fake napkins labelled Whisper and Sofy, the media reported.
