Dec 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Naga Viper which has earned the position of the hottest chili pepper of the world in recent times is not a product of either Mexico or India, the two countries know for producing some really fiery tasting chili varieties. The hottest chili pepper is cultivated at a snowy little known province of UK. A chili farmer based in northwest England is credited with its invention. The farmer achieved success in blending three hot chili pepper variants and the result is indeed awesome. The people who have tasted this variant agree that it is indeed the hottest chili they ever tried. The pepper makes a numbing sensation in the tongue after eating. The numbing feeling remains even a long time after consuming the fiery chili.
Upon testing, the Naga Viper scored a whopping 1,359,000 on Scoville scale. This used generally for calculating the level of a chemical called capsaicin in chili. It is responsible for that typical numbing and burning feeling in tongue. Bhut Jolokia which is now the second hottest chili pepper of the world ranks 300,000 on the same scale. It has been found by the researchers that Naga Viper is 270 times hotter compared to conventional jalapeno pepper.
Warwick University researchers have also said that this is the hottest ever chili pepper among all the varieties out there. Gerald Fowler, the UK based farmer who made this pepper is hogging the limelight these days. The pepper may also make its way in the Guinness Book of World records. The farmer revealed that for most of people its taste is intolerable. However, he thinks that it is actually beneficial for human body.
