Muslim asylum seekers given free Xmas party in CalaisDecember 24th, 2007 - 1:49 pm ICT by admin
London, Dec.24 (ANI): About 500 asylum seekers, a majority of them Muslim, were treated to a free Christmas party in Calais on Sunday.
According to The Sun, they were given food, drink, gifts and party bags. However, there were no carols in case they were offended.
The party was held at the Minck Civic Hall and was organised by local charities CSUR and Belle Etoile. Entertainers included a clown dressed as Santa and local children singing Ethiopias national anthem. Pasta, chicken and cake were served instead of traditional turkey dinners.
Guests were also given gloves, scarves and sweets. They were handed cups of Earl Grey tea as they left.
A new immigrant centre dubbed Sangatte II has also been opened in defiance of the agreement between Britain and France in 2002 that led to Sangattes closure.
The original centre attracted 67,000 immigrants within three years trying to get to Britain. (ANI)
