Murdered Indian-origin woman’s husband returns to N.Zealand
January 28th, 2011 - 1:23 pm ICT by ANIAuckland (New Zealand), Jan.28 (ANI): The husband of the Indian-origin woman who was burnt alive in Auckland’s Huntly area last week, has returned to New Zealand from Fiji, and is likely to be charged with murder.
Davesh Sharma, the husband of Ranjeeta Sharma flew into New Zealand from Fiji accompanied by New Zealand police officers. He was placed in police custody on Tuesday, the stuff.co.nz web site reports.
The flight landed at Auckland International Airport at around 2.30 p.m.
Sharma is likely to appear before the Huntly or Hamilton District Court over the next few days.
Fiji Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said No one else was being sought over Ranjeeta Sharma’s death.
Devesh Sharma’s return comes as his wife was to be cremated after a funeral at Wailoaloa Cemetery in Nadi at 1 p.m., the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation reported. (ANI)
