Murder in Colombian church during Mass
November 19th, 2010 - 11:51 am ICT by IANSBogota, Nov 19 (IANS/EFE) A man was gunned down inside a church in the northwestern Colombian city of Medellin while attending a memorial Mass for a relative slain earlier, police said Thursday.
Two men entered the Catholic church in the city’s Santa Lucia neighbourhood, walked up to John Jairo Valencia Osorio and shot him five times, witnesses said.
Valencia, 24, died later at a hospital in Medellin, Colombia’s second-largest city and capital of the province of Antioquia.
The killing might have been a reprisal connected with a conflict between rival gangs, according to the municipal police commander, Col. Adan Leon.
