Mums outdo men in football coaching

March 5th, 2008 - 6:25 pm ICT by admin -

London, Mar 5 (ANI): When it comes to coaching football, mums outdo dads because they are naturals at motivating children.

According to a new study, mothers can get the best out of young footballers through years of being unpaid teachers, nurses, counsellors and disciplinarians.

Recently, the Mums on the Ball campaign was launched to enroll mothers as grassroots coaches for kids’ leagues.

The campaign was presented by McDonald’s.

It has the backing of mums of famous footballers Rio Ferdinand and rising star Theo Walcott.

“I agree that many of the qualities I have as a mother are totally relevant to coaching youngsters, the Mirror quoted Theo’s mum Lynn, as saying.

World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst also believes mums bring out the best in young players.

“Mums know how to engage children, how to speak their language and how to motivate them,” he said. (ANI)
