Mulberry bags prestigious designer brand gong at British Fashion Awards
December 8th, 2010 - 6:08 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec 8 (ANI): Fashion company Mulberry has picked up the prestigious designer brand gong at the British Fashion Awards.
The event was held at the Savoy theatre in London, and Alexa Chung, 27, a Mulberry “brand ambassador” who gave her name to the firm’s handbag, won the award for most stylish person in Britain, in a public vote.
Mulberry has recently announced a near 80 percent increase in sales and opened a central London store, the Guardian reported.
A short film featuring some of Alexander McQueen’s most famous catwalk designs, set to a soundtrack by Bjork, opened the 2010 awards.
An outstanding achievement award was given posthumously to McQueen, who died in February and who had four times been crowned British designer of the year. (ANI)
