Mubarak’s wife pens book on grandson
May 19th, 2011 - 11:36 am ICT by IANSCairo, May 19 (IANS) Former Egyptian first lady Suzanne Mubarak has penned a book about her relationship with her grandson who recently died aged 12, an Egyptian newspaper said.
Titled “The story of Egypt’s first lady and her grandson”, the book will be published in English in September, the Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported.
The book tells the story of her life with her grandson Mohamed Alaa Mubarak who died May 18, 2009. The former first lady writes about the moments they shared when she told him bedtime stories and taught him about astronomy and Japanese culture.
In the book’s introductory pages, she says: “I believe reading to my grandson Mohamed at an early age has helped him develop his ability to express himself clearly and confidently.”
Suzanne, her husband ousted president Hosni Mubarak and their two sons face allegations of illegally acquiring wealth.
The Illicit Gains Authority Tuesday released her on bail after she relinquished her assets, estimated at 24 million Egyptian pounds (about $4 million), to the state.
It is believed that the family owns more assets overseas, and Suzanne Mubarak’s release has angered activists.
