Mubarak’s trial resumes
August 15th, 2011 - 6:05 pm ICT by IANSCairo, Aug 15 (IANS) The trial of former Egypt president Hosni Mubarak and his two sons resumed Monday in the capital city.
Mubarak lay in bed with his two sons standing by inside the cage at the court set up at the Police Academy in Cairo, Xinhua reported.
The two sons - Alaa and Gamal - looked relaxed and talked to each other from time to time before the trial.
Mubarak was transported to the venue by a plane from the International Medical Centre.
Clashes were reported between Mubarak’s supporters and opponents outside the trial venue. People pelted stones at one another, leaving some injured.
At the court, Judge Ahmed Refaat examined the evidence against the former president, including some DVDs.
Mubarak’s lawyer Fareed El-Deeb asked for a copy of the evidence, and adjournment of the case in order to have enough time to examine the proof.
The three first appeared in court Aug 3 on charges of murder and corruption. They have denied all charges.
