Amityville, New York, Aug 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The present owners of the house in New York which shot to fame after being featured in the hit 1979 flick “The Amityville Horror” organized a moving sale on the property on Saturday. The widespread interest that the house, which was witness to the 1974 DeFeo family killings, still manages to create among the people could easily be comprehended from that huge turnout that the sale saw yesterday.
The Ocean Avenue as well as the surrounding blocks was flooded with cars as hundreds of people gathered in the vicinity of the house to take a closer look at the famed property. The Dutch colonial estate which is under contract, had been on sale since the month of May for a whopping $1.15 million. The moving sale that was held on Saturday comprised of furniture as well as exercise gears and although it came as a disappointment to many, any items from the property’s infamous history was not on sale. Apart from the moving sale, the fact that actually contributed to ensuring that the moving sale turned to be a big hit was the anticipation among the people to catch a glimpse of the house in which six members of the DeFeo family were murdered in their sleep.
Although some parts of the property was blocked from public viewing, the buyers were able to check out much of the house including the upper floors where the DeFeo family was killed. Meanwhile, the items that were put on sale included beach chairs, fishing equipments, books, a living room couch, an antique mirror, among others.
