Most wanted South African criminal arrested
May 14th, 2011 - 7:34 pm ICT by IANSPretoria, May 14 (IANS) A notorious criminal, linked to about 35 bank robberies in South Africa and who escaped to neighbouring Zimbabwe, has been arrested after he re-entered the country, state-run BuaNews reported.
Bongani Moyo, who escaped from a prison in March, was arrested late Friday night at Beitbridge town on the border with Zimbabwe, police spokesman Col. Neville Malila said.
“We believe he came back to South Africa from Zimbabwe for urgent medical attention. Acting on this information, police arrested him near the border post,” he said.
Police thanked the public for providing them with information regarding Moyo through the popular police helplines, and urged them to continue to do the same.
