Most Britons skip breakfast for an extra hour in bed
April 16th, 2010 - 3:29 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 16 (ANI): Two thirds of Britons miss out on the most important meal of the day, a new survey has revealed.
As per the study, they skip breakfast for extra time in bed or to get to work early.
And when the UK does make time for toast or cereal it is likely to be in the office, as one in five admit to skipping breakfast to save time and get to work early.
Most of those who still have breakfast bolt it down in just 20 minutes in their living room while watching TV, according to the survey.
Men skip their morning meal the most, with 74 percent admitting lunch is their first meal of the day.
More than half (55 percent) of new mothers admit they skip their morning meal with 47 percent of parents saying they find breakfast the most stressful time of the day.
“Breakfast is a very important meal and provides a lot of nutrients, such as glucose, that aid concentration and mental strength. And research shows that people who eat breakfast are generally slimmer,” the Daily Express quoted Angela Tella, a dietician and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association (BDA), as saying.
A total of 2,500 families from across the UK were surveyed in yoghurt company Dr Oetker Onken’s survey. (ANI)
