London, Jan 9 (IANS) Tom Moody, currently in charge of Western Australia, said he could consider coaching the England cricket team if an offer is made to him.England coach Peter Moores was sacked Wednesday following his fall-out with skipper Kevin Pietersen.

Former Sri Lanka coach Moody said Friday that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not yet been in touch with him but claims he would mull over any offer to lead the side in an Ashes year.

“Obviously a lot has gone on in English cricket over the last couple of days,” Moody was quoted as saying in Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve had no formal approach and until I do, I don’t need to really think or consider anything but concentrate on the Warriors.

“(But) I’m very happy here in Perth, (the) family is settled, I’ve got a great job, enjoying what I’m doing. I’ve got no reason to be looking further afield.”

Moody was thought to be a contender before Moores was appointed in 2007 but he claimed he was not formally approached by the ECB.

“It’s a bit like 2007, a similar thing happened. There was no formal approach but there was a lot of beat up that I was one of the favourites for the job but I didn’t speak to anyone about that,” he said.

“As I said, I’m very happy here in Perth and enjoying what I’m doing and until anything formal comes through, if it ever does, I’ll worry about it then.”
