Montrose Coffee Shop Goes Up In Flames

sirHouston, Nov 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Coffee drinkers are lamenting the loss of their favorite Montrose hangout, Agora coffee and wine bar, when a fire broke out in a nearby Antique Warehaus building on early Sunday morning and quickly spread to the coffee shop. Within a short span of time, the favorite coffee joint was engulfed in flames as passerbys looked with shock. Though no one was hurt, cafe Agora has been severely damaged and an investigation is on regarding the cause of the fire. People are suspecting the fire as a case of arson but there is no proof as yet. In the meantime, the coffee and wine shop will be closed until repair is complete.

It took 13 fire trucks and around 100 firefighters to fight the three-alarm fire as onlookers stood transfixed on the scene. The fire was reported by a policeman patrolling the area. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital after suffering from heat exhaustion while battling the massive fire. The owner of the antique shop, Gordon Greenleaf was not even aware of the fire for several hours as he was resting after having volunteered for a Halloween event. The antique shop has been completely destroyed in the fire and the owner is completely rattled by the loss.

It was a popular and a comfortable place for people as it was affordable while being a great place to relax or work. It has been reported that the shop will be closed for at least two months. Meanwhile, people who have been a regular at the joint expressed hope that the place be repaired quickly and once again become one of Houston’s best places to hangout.
