Milkmen turning a vanishing lot in Britain
January 24th, 2012 - 8:54 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Jan 24 (IANS) Traditional milkmen are rapidly turning a vanishing breed in Britain while various other doorstep delivery services such as of pizzas to computers and books to DVDs are witnessing a boom.
Only 18 percent of the people still had milk delivered directly to their homes in 2011, compared to 45 percent just 10 years ago. Yet there has been a rise in goods from pizzas to computers, clothes, books and DVDs ordered online and delivered to the door, the Daily Express reported.
As per a survey by car hire service Avis Delivers, nearly four in 10 people — 38 percent — have takeaways delivered, over twice as many as those who get milk this way.
