Mile-high horror after man’s death threats on Qantas Melbourne-Hong Kong flight
October 7th, 2010 - 3:17 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Oct 7(ANI): A man has been restrained for allegedly threatening to kill fellow passengers onboard a Qantas flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong.
The terrifying ordeal occurred several hours after the plane took off from Melbourne on Wednesday.
“He was praying in (a foreign language believed to be) Hebrew and yelling out ‘I’m going to kill myself, you will all die’,” The Herald Sun quoted Helen, a passenger from flight QF029, as saying.
She said that the man had threatened to open the door, saying it would be “God’s will”.
“There were some very scared and upset passengers. There was one lady that was quite upset, she moved into our cabin in Premium Economy because she said: ‘I heard too much, I heard too much, I can’t go back down there’,” she added.
Another passenger said that the man was restrained by the cabin crew, and was held down in the front row of economy.
“The male cabin crew apparently held him down and then they cuffed him and put him in a seat with curtains around him and he had a couple of crew members with him with the rest of the flight,” the passenger said.
Meanwhile, a Qantas spokeswoman confirmed that there was an incident on the flight to Hong Kong where “a passenger became disruptive”.
“Hong Kong authorities met the aircraft on arrival,” she said. (ANI)
