Madrid, May 21 (Xinhua) Pedja Mijatovic resigned as Real Madrid’s sports director after reaching an agreement with the club to dissolve the contract earlier than the due date of June 2010.
Mijatovic took the charge with the triumph of Ramon Calderon in the club’s last elections. During his three years as sports director, the club won two League titles (2006-07 and 2007-08) and a Super Cup of Spain (2008).
Mijatovic resigned Wednesday, two matches before the closing of the League, against Mallorca and Osasuna.
Mijatovic said in a statement that “with current season coming to an end, the club has got a ticket for the second place and when officially began the electoral process” he decided to resign as he did not want to interfere with the important events of the club in the coming weeks.
