Mickey Rourke stopped at Heathrow for carrying 36 kg of shoes!

London, Feb 15 (IANS) Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke stunned airline staff at Heathrow when he turned up with a suitcase weighing 5.5 stone (around 36 kg) packed full of shoes.
Rourke’s bulging bag of loafers (slip-ons) was over the weight limit and before he could check in at the airport for his flight to New York, he had to redistribute his shoes among his other suitcases, reports mirror.co.uk.
The actor, 56, was on his way home Wednesday after an eight-day stay in London, where he had won a best actor at BAFTA for his role in hit movie “The Wrestler”.
“It was really weird and extraordinary to watch. Five-and-a-half stone (36 kg) of shoes is one heck of a lot of shoes, especially for a bloke. Staff thought at first he must have had his BAFTA in the case,” said an airline staff official.
“It was freezing cold but he had no socks on and a pair of blue slip-ons with very low heels. And it turned out that he had about 40 pairs of shoes very similar to the ones he was wearing in the case. It’s the sort of thing you’d expect of Victoria Beckham, but not of a tough guy like Mickey Rourke,” the official added.
