New York, January 17 (ANI): U.S. President-elect Barack Obamas wife Michelle, who turned 45 on Saturday, has joined the First Ladies Club.
The position makes her an instant role model, trendsetter, and VIP of the highest order.
Apart from caring for her own family, she will have a podium from which to discuss issues that matter.
Shes made references that her pet project is her children. She wants to give them a sense of normalcy, to not miss PTA meetings and soccer practices, the New York Daily News quoted Robert Watson, author of The Presidents Wives, as saying.
He, however, added that if Michelle wanted to make mommyhood her thing, no one is going to grouse.
Youre talking about an Ivy-educated lawyer whos the epitome of the modern woman, he said.
I think Michelle will have her cake and eat it too, and will address related issues, like drug use and racism. Shell frame her activities under the rubric of motherhood, he added.
Watson also said that Michelle will have to behave more responsibly henceforth, and choose her words carefully, as First Ladies are subject to criticism.
If Laura Bush was Teflon-coated, Hillary Clinton was a lightning rod, he said. (ANI)
