London, Aug 8 (ANI): US First Lady Michelle Obama chose a quiet dinner with close acquaintances over a star-studded charity gala during her holiday in Spain, disheartening guests who had hoped to meet her.

Expectation had been high that the First Lady would be the special guest at Marbella’s event of the year - a celebrity charity dinner hosted by Hollywood stars Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria at the Villa Padierna.

Michelle was spending a four-day mini-break with her youngest daughter Sasha and some friends.

Longoria, star of Desperate Housewives, who lent her support to Barack Obama during his presidential campaign, has personally invited her.

More than 400 tickets had been sold for Saturday’s Starlite gala at 1,000 euros each, according to organisers.

While the guest arrived to the event, the Obama motorcade cruised out of the Villa Padierna to take the wife of the US President Barack Obama, her daughter, and their group of friends to a private dinner at a restaurant ten miles away.

“It was disappointing that she wasn’t there but she had not promised to be and she was after all on a private holiday with her daughter so maybe she felt it wasn’t appropriate,” the Telegraph quoted spokesman for the organisers as saying. (ANI)
