Meryl Streep ashamed of ‘Out of Africa’ audition

London, Aug 11 (IANS) Meryl Streep says she will always be ashamed of the lengths she went to to get the role of Danish writer Karen Blixen in the 1985 film “Out of Africa”. According to, the actress had to go out of the way because director Sydney Pollack thought she was not sexy enough for the role. Streep won an Oscar nomination for the role but she had to prove that she was more than just a respected leading lady.

She recalled: “I went to the audition, pathetically, in a very low-cut blouse with a push-up bra.”
