Meet the couple who have been married and in love for 77 years!
December 25th, 2010 - 12:58 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Dec 25 (ANI): At a time when most people have stopped believing in the institution of marriage, a Holland couple have celebrated their 77th anniversary and are still going strong.
Lifelong Holland residents, 98-year-old Jack and 97-year-old Ella Essenburg have been married since 1933.
“You have to have a lot of love,” WZZM13.com quoted Ella as saying.
“Love is the only thing really.”
The couple has five children, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grand children and 11 great great grand children.
Two years ago the couple was awarded with a lifetime achievement for being one of only 110 living couples to stay together for so long.
“You’ve got to try to understand the other person’s feelings, and abide by them,” Jack said.
They say it was love at first sight and that it’s still love more than three quarters of a century later. A constant that no matter what, never wavered.
“Love one another. That is the biggest thing,” the couple shared. (ANI)
