Meet the Brit family that has sent six generations to same school
September 27th, 2010 - 6:33 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sept 27 (ANI): A family in Britain, which has been sending six of its generations to the same school, has just enrolled their youngest member.
Grace Birchenough, 4, is the latest to be enrolled at St Paul’s in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, which is a Church of England school, opened in the 1850s.
Before Grace, her mother Eleanor, 26, her grandmother, Louise, her great-grandmother, Renee, and her great-great-great grandfather Jonathan and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins had studied there.
Grace’s great-great-great grandfather Jonathan had studied there in the 1870s, great-great grandmother Letita Bradley in 1913, great-grandmother Renee, 76, had attended from 1936-1943, grandmother Louise, 46, had attended from 1969-1975, and mom Eleanor attended from 1989-1996.
Though things have changed much in the school, Grace’s mum Eleanor is thrilled that her daughter got into St Paul’s.
“I hope my children get as good a start out of their education, and that’s why I’m thrilled Grace got into St Paul’s, even though it is not our closest school,” the Daily Mail quoted Eleanor as saying.
“She says her favourite thing is the climbing frame in the playground, but I think she is going to like school dinners, too.
“The classes sound quite different from my day and I’m sure Grace’s great-great-great-grandfather Jonathan wouldn’t recognise the school at all.
“But I know whatever she does there, Grace will be happy. And so will her little sister Ismaye and brother Zachary when they continue the family tradition,” she added. (ANI)
