Captain Thomas Waterman was awarded the Punjab Campaign Medal and the Indian Mutiny Medal for his courage, along with a note recording the his tortuous journey to freedom.
The medals are now being sold by Bosley’s in Marlow, Buckinghamshire and are expected to fetch upto 4000 pounds, The Times reports.
“When he woke long after everyone had left, he found himself overrun and would have been terrified of being captured. He made an incredible escape and was extremely lucky to get out,” said Steven Bosley, the auctioneer. (ANI)
