McKellen takes up Thai kickboxing

London, June 28 (IANS) Ian McKellen, the star of “Lord of the Rings”, has taken up Thai kickboxing at the age of 69. The mirror.co.uk reports that McKellen is paying 50 pounds ($100) per hour for personal training sessions and also does cardio and resistance workouts in an east London gym.
A source said: “His trainer really puts him through his paces, and Sir Ian recently started doing Thai boxing-style moves which are really good for toning and general fitness.”
McKellen is set to star in the film “The Colossus”, which is based on a novel called “Manly Pursuits”.
