McGrath rules out Oz bowling coach job
January 1st, 2011 - 11:44 am ICT by ANISydney, Jan 1(ANI): Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has said that he is not interested in taking over the fast bowling coach’s role being vacated by Troy Cooley.
Cooley will step down after the fifth Test against England in Sydney to take up a role at Australia’s Centre of Excellence.
McGrath said that he is happy to help out the national team where possible, but he is not seeking a full-time coaching job.
“I’m always happy to give advice where I can. There’s been a lot happening in my life in the last 12 months especially and there’s plenty to keep me busy,” The Age quoted McGrath, as saying.
“I guess I’ll chat to the boys a fair bit after this Test match and see what I can do, but as for an official role, we’ll see what the future holds. There’s plenty to keep me busy,” he added.
The 40-year-olf has further tipped Australia to bounce back and level the series at 2-2 with a win at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
“It goes in cycles occasionally … it wasn’t that long ago where the current Australian team won 13 in a row so I’ve got total faith the boys will bounce back and we’ll get back to the top of the tree,” McGrath said. (ANI)
