Martin Luther King Jr.’s son eyeing buying piece of New York Mets

New York, Jan 31(ANI): Late American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.’s son is reportedly interested in buying piece of the New York Mets baseball team.

The Mets owner Fred Wilpon had on January 28 announced that he is seeking to sell a portion of the club to cover expected losses due to their involvement in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.

According to the New York Daily News, a group including Martin Luther King III, former Met Ed Kranepool, the son of former Met Donn Clendenon and TV executive Larry Meli are seeking to meet with Mets ownership this week.

Wilpon had indicated that the Mets are looking to sell approximately 20 to 25 percent of the team, which was valued at 858 million dollars by Forbes in 2010.

Martin Luther King III is a human rights advocate and community activist.

He is the eldest son and oldest living child of civil rights leader. (ANI)
