Maoists seek support of Nepalese diaspora for republic Nepal
November 14th, 2007 - 2:12 am ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara has called upon the Nepalese Diaspora to support their demand for declaring the Himalayan country republic, democratic and sovereign.
At an interaction programme, Mahara said: “We want the intellectual circle, presently living overseas, to understand the root of the problem Nepal is facing and be a part of the campaign to construct a new Nepal with their expertise and resources.”
He said that the development process in Nepal would accelerate if it taps the skills and resources of the Nepalese Diaspora.
He said that a circle of Nepali citizens in the country doubt and even misunderstand the contribution and possible future role of the Maoists, adding that the Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) circle, however has understood that the past of the Maoists was not futile.
Dr Jugal Bhurtel, NRN Association’s spokesperson, said all NRNs urged the party leaders to make arrangement for casting votes by Nepalese living aboard in the Constituent Assembly elections. (ANI)
