Ranchi, May 21 (IANS) Maoist rebels killed three people Wednesday in Gumla district of Jharkhand, the police said. According to the police, four villagers were abducted from Kotam village, 145 Km from here, Wednesday by the activists of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
The abducted people were taken to the jungle where they were shot. Three died, but one escaped with serious injuries.
According to the police, the villagers were killed as the Maoists suspected them to be police informers. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and the injured man is being treated in a local hospital.
In Jharkhand, Maoists have killed more than 60 people in the last two years after branding them as police informers.
