Raipur, May 22 (IANS) A tribal woman was killed and another critically injured Thursday in Chhattisgarh’s southern Bastar region when a pressure bomb planted by the insurgents went off, the police said. “A middle-aged woman was killed on the spot while her colleague received multiple wounds when they touched a pressure bomb in a forested area of Narayanpur district,” , deputy inspector general Pawan Deo told IANS.
The incident took place on Narayanpur-Orchha road, 370 km south of Raipur. The injured woman was rushed to district hospital in Narayanpur town.
On Wednesday, the police found bodies of two special police officers (SPOs) in the district. Leftist insurgents had killed the two SPOs, both tribal youths, by slitting their throats.
The Maoists run a de-facto administration in forested interiors of the Bastar region, spread out in about 40,000 sq km.
