Man shot dead on Cheshire Street

Widnes, Dec 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 30-year-old man has been fatally shot by an unidentified gunman in the street.

Locals at Hale, Cheshire reported that they heard series of gunshots after midnight and immediately alerted the authorities. When the police got to the scene, the man was still alive and he was taking to the hospital where he died as a result of the injuries he sustained from the shot.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that the man’s head was seriously injured following the shootout. The police have subsequently informed the man’s family about the incident and investigation to determine who might have pulled the trigger continues.

The police indicated that killing was not rampant in the town. Chief Superintendent Richard Strachan told reporters that, “Incidents such as this are rare not just in Widnes, but in Cheshire as a whole. Our priority is the safety of our community and we are doing all we can to explore the circumstances surrounding this shooting and identify those responsible.”

The police have subsequently asked the public to volunteer information that might lead to the arrest of the person behind the crime. They urged anyone with any information at all to contact the police on the telephone or better still walk into the station.
