Hangzhou, March 10 (Xinhua) A man in east China’s Zhejiang province was sentenced to life for selling fake cigarettes worth millions of yuan, a local court said Monday. Li Kuancai, the leader of the group, received life sentence and had all his property and assets confiscated.
He was found guilty of selling 5,735 boxes of fake cigarettes worth more than 7.6 million yuan ($1.07 million) with the help of his accomplices since 2005, according to the ruling by the Shaoxing Municipal Intermediate People’s Court.
It was the largest case concerned with fake cigarettes in the city, a court official said.
Ten other people who had helped Li in selling fake cigarettes received sentences ranging from six months to 15 years in jail, according to the court.
