Man jailed for infecting two women with HIV
July 26th, 2011 - 8:23 pm ICT by IANSLondon, July 26 (IANS) An African immigrant to Britain has been sent to jail for infecting two women with HIV and having unprotected sex with seven others, officials said.
Zimbabwe-born Nkosinati Mabanda, 44, had sex with all nine women even after being fully aware that he was HIV positive, The Sun reported.
The immigrant carried on having sex with “blatant disregard” for the women’s health, the Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
He was jailed for four years for causing grievous bodily harm.
Police said they have been unable to trace the seven women to warn them to take tests.
Mabanda may be deported at the end of his sentence.
He was also given an Anti-social Behaviour Order ordering him to tell women in future about his condition before having sex with them.
The man’s health condition was known two years ago when a lover found a text message on his phone from his fiancee, and rang her. His fiancee advised her to get an HIV test which proved positive.
Mabanda later told police he knew he had the virus. After the case, the victim called on other women to seek help.
