December 14th, 2011 - 9:13 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Dec 14 (IANS) A man in China hurt himself badly after homemade bombs he was carrying to threaten the family of his missing wife detonated during a heated row.
The man, Liu Dong, was sentenced to three years in prison for endangering public security, the Shanghai Daily reported.
The 41-year-old from Guizhou reached Shanghai in search of his wife, Zhao Min, who had disappeared after leaving his house to work in other cities in 2007.
According to Liu, he married Zhao in 1990 and kept searching for her until learning that she had started living with another man.
Liu bought a stun rod and made explosives from fireworks to take revenge from his wife.
On June 16, Liu met Zhao’s sister and her husband at their apartment and sought information about his wife’s whereabouts.
During an altercation, Liu switched on the stun rod that produced electronic shocks and detonated the bombs, badly injuring him.
