December 10th, 2009 - 4:52 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec 10(ANI): Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was at the centre of a security alert after a man was arrested near his 3.5million pound home in Connaught Street, Central London, for possessing a firearm.
According to reports, Kutjim Nurka, a 56-year-old Albania national has been arrested over the incident.
There was no threat to Blair’s safety, it is understood.
The 56-year-old suspect is thought to have dropped the gun from the window of his car after being stopped by suspicious police officers.
The black automatic was spotted in a gutter by a passer-by. As soon as the gun was noticed an alarm was raised and the members of the Diplomatic Protection Group, who are responsible for Blair’s safety, were notified.
Police said that further investigation is being carried out through the help of fingerprinting and DNA analysis. (ANI)
