Malaysian PM extends Deepavali greetings to Hindus
November 5th, 2010 - 1:08 pm ICT by ANIKuala Lumpur, Nov 5 (ANI): Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has extended Deepavali greetings to the Hindus in the country, and assured them that his government would continue to be with the community.
According to The Star, Razak said that the government was working with many Indian groups to bring more services and facilities to the community, and added: “We will celebrate your festivities with you and we will be there with you in your hour of need.”
He further expressed his confidence that the Hindu community would find solutions “if we persevere and continue to adopt a give-and-take attitude,” and encouraged them to recognise their own success stories.
Malaysia had emerged with solid growth prospects from a global slowdown as a result of the combined efforts of all Malaysians,he said, and urged individuals and families who are striving for success and facing many challenges, to work hard for achieving their goals.
“We did not dwell on the darkness because we knew it was within our power to help ourselves to achieve sustained and robust growth. In the spirit of Deepavali, we must not worry about darkness or failure because we can make our own light and succeed,” he said.
“This spirit of togetherness is clear for all to see as Malaysians open their doors and welcome each other into their homes to celebrate auspicious occasions, including Deepavali,” he added. (ANI)
