Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Oct. 29 (ANI): Two Malaysian parliamentarians have lodged a police complaint against MIC President S. Samy Vellu for allegedly attempting to incite racial tensions in the country. In their complaint, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) MPs, S. Manikavasagam and Loh Gwo Burne said that Samy Vellu’s statements regarding a “so-called Hindu temple” were untrue and misleading.Loh claimed that the recently demolished structure in Shah Alam was not a temple but an altar frequented by gambling punters. And the Selangor government had not given any order to demolish any temple, they said.According to Manikavasagam, any religious structure could only be demolished with the approval of exco members Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, Ronnie Liu and Teresa Kok under the state’s policy.Manikavasagam said he visited the “temple” a day after it was demolished and met caretaker Muniandy, who performed small-scale healing practices.”There was no temple or any structure except a framed picture of (Hindu deity) Madurai Veeran which the caretaker had put there. The man just wanted to be left alone and would find a place to move to by December,” said Manikavasagam. The two MPs urged police to investigate the matter and take action against Samy Vellu (ANI)
