Malaysian Indian Congress to rebuild 40 Tamil schools
March 12th, 2009 - 4:17 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment ) Kuala Lumpur, Mar 12 (ANI): Human Resources Minister Dr S.Subramaniam has said that the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) will rebuild 40 Tamil schools with additional RM50m under the second economic stimulus package.
Dr. Subramaniam said in the first economic stimulus package, the Government had allocated RM50mil for Tamil schools, while RM30mil was approved by the Finance Ministry before the March 8 general election.
“The allocations would be disbursed through the Public Works Department (PWD). The initial RM50mil (under the first stimulus package) and the RM30mil has been disbursed through the PWD to rebuild more than 60 Tamil schools,” he added.
Later, he thanked the Government for approving the request in this regard, The Star reports. (ANI)
