Malaysian Deputy PM heads for five-day visit to India

Kuala Lumpur, Mar.8 (ANI): Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will reach Mumbai today on a five-day official visit to India from March 8 to12.
The purpose of Muhyiddin’s visit is to discuss and exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern to both India and Malaysia.
Muhyiddin will be accompanied by Works Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor, Human Resources Minister Dr S. Subramaniam, Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister M. Saravanan, Sabah Chief Minister Seri Musa Aman and Malaysia’s Special Envoy to India and South Asia on Infrastructure S. Samy Vellu.
According to the Foreign Ministry statement, the visit is on the invitation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna.
Muhyiddin will reach Mumbai to attend a roundtable meeting with Indian captains of industry, have a dialogue with representatives of Malaysian companies operating in India and will visit the VFS Global Malaysia Visa Centre and meet Malaysians living in Mumbai.
He has a meeting scheduled with Dr Singh in New Delhi on Thursday, The Star reports.
He will also hold talks with Urban Development Minister Saugata Roy, Road Transport and Highways Minister Dr C.P. Joshi and Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal.
Muhyiddin is also expected to open the Construction Industry Development Board in Gurgaon. He will visit the site of an infrastructure joint venture project between a Malaysian company and an Indian partner.
He will also speak at a luncheon jointly hosted by the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
Muhyiddin also has plans to visit Chennai to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi who will be the guest of honour at the Malaysian Cultural Night to celebrate the establishment of the twin cities of Kuala Lumpur and Chennai. (ANI)
