Malaysia HRP chief accuses opposition of braking promises made to Indian community
August 4th, 2010 - 2:24 pm ICT by ANIKuala Lumpur, August 4 (ANI): Malaysian Human Rights Party secretary-general P. Uthayakumar has accused the opposition parties like the DAP, PAS and PKR, who came into power riding on the support of the Indian community in the country, of failing to fulfill the promises made to them during general elections in the past.
According to The Star, he alleged that they have not only ignored the problems of the Indian but had also sidelined them.
“None of the 800 Tamil school students who obtained 7As in the UPSR (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah) examinations had obtained places in junior science colleges.
“Despite being promised land for the Rini Estate Tamil School in Johor six years ago, there had been no word from the Education Ministry,” he added.
In an attempt to woo the Indian voters in the country, he urged most of them to register as voters to become the majority in the constituency.
Uthayakumar also pledged that to solve such problems, the party had decided to contest in constituencies with substantial Indian voters in the next general election, starting with the Putri Wangsa state seat in Tebrau. (ANI)
