Malay Indians lack awareness of ETP benefits, says Razak
April 24th, 2011 - 4:56 pm ICT by ANIKuala Lumpur, Apr 24(ANI): Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has said that there is a lack of awareness among the country’s Indian community of the potential benefits they can receive from the government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
Razak said that although the Indians were supportive of the programme, they were not excited about it as they did not realize that they could benefit directly from the new jobs, business opportunities and better incomes that the ETP would bring.
“We need the help of Indian leaders and organizations to explain to the Indians how they can benefit,” the Star quoted Razak, as saying.
“Leaders of the Indian community have a duty to work with the government and bring the ETP to the people,” he added. (ANI)
