Kuala Lumpur, Apr 8 (ANI): Malaysian Indian Congress president S. Samy Vellu has said that his party’s campaign for by-election to the the Hulu Selangor constituency will focus on development of all races.
He said he had directed the 70 MIC branch chairmen in all the divisions to find out the problems faced by all races and not Indians alone.
“I want all chairmen to submit daily reports on the development status in their areas. I want them (branch chairmen) to touch base with the people more often and seek the cooperation of their counterparts from the other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties,’ he said.
Samy said they would focus on the issues raised by the constituents, as that was what they wanted the BN to do, The Star reports.
He also said he had several meetings with the community representatives to seek their views on what needed to be done.
“We will also be working with local non-governmental organisations to identify problems that need government intervention,” he said.
Samy Vellu said the Wanita, Youth, Puteri and Putera wings had also lined up many people-centric programmes.
He said they would work as a team in the spirit of BN and was confident that by working together, they could win the seat.
“Winning the by-election is important for BN as it will help resolve the many problems being faced by the people there,’ he said, adding that the MIC machinery would also counter opposition allegations against the BN. (ANI)
