Majority of Australians blame Kevin Rudd for historic change

Canberra, June 25 (ANI): A poll has revealed that one in two Australian people surveyed blamed former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd for the historic change in the country, while another one-third pointed a finger at the Labor Party.
Rudd stepped down as Prime Minister after Julia Gillard was unanimously elected to the post on Thursday.
The poll further revealed that less than two percent said Rudd deserved most of the blame.
Although the poll has proved to be good news for the new Prime Minster, the Australians have also expressed that as a matter of fact, she has a fight ahead to convince the public that she is worthy of election.
Surprisingly, the poll of 2500 Australians revealed that 21 per cent who stated they voted Labor in the last election, would not vote for the party if asked to vote this week because they didn’t elect Ms Gillard to the top job.
CoreData principal Andrew Inwood said that the results made Ms Gillard’s task clear.”Her job now is to convince Australians that she is worthy of election - not someone who is placed in power by the Labor caucus,” News.com.au quoted Inwood, as saying.
Interestingly, Inwood further revealed that nine per cent of respondents who claimed they voted Liberal in the previous election would vote for Gillard because she is a female. (ANI)
