Madonna may soon take Mercy James homeJune 9th, 2009 - 12:57 pm ICT by IANS
London, June 9 (IANS) Pop Diva Madonna may soon get permission to adopt three-year-old Malawian girl Mercy James.
Thesun.co.uk reports that Madonna persuaded three appeal judges to allow her to adopt Mercy, two have already submitted reports giving her the go ahead for the adoption and the third is said to be “in complete unison with them”.
The singer, whose two-year application to adopt Mercy was blocked by a court in March, has been informed by her lawyer Alan Chinula about the latest development.
The ruling is set to be announced next Sunday at Malawi’s Supreme Court of Appeal.
“The paperwork is being typed up now. All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She’s off to America,” said a source
The 50-year-old’s adoption application was originally rejected because she had not lived in the east African state for 18 months, as required.
But one of the three appeal judges has said that rule was out of date.
