Lutheran Church welcomes Hindu leader on Christmas Eve
December 27th, 2010 - 3:21 pm ICT by ANINevada (US), Dec 27 (ANI): In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed was welcomed by a Lutheran Church in Nevada (USA) on Christmas Eve, where he attended the Christmas Eve Candlelight Celebration.
Senior Pastor Carl F. Wilfrid of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Reno (LCGSR), who invited and welcomed Zed, presided over the Celebration, where some of the events were conducted by Associate Pastor Rebecca Schlatter. Rajan Zed is President of Universal Society of Hinduism.
Celebration included Christmas Carols, prayers, story-telling, music, sermon, candle-lighting, hymns; which was summed-up as celebration of God becoming human, born as one of us.
Mission of LCGSR, which is affiliated with Chicago (USA) headquartered Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is “reaching-caring-teaching-sharing”. Lutherans, spread throughout the world, are a major Protestant denomination of Christianity which originated around 1521 and which traces its origins to Martin Luther’s (1483-1546) theology and the formulae collected in the Book of Concord (1580).
Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about a billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
