Lovesick govt employee sends 7000 emails from official ID in search of girl!
November 16th, 2010 - 6:41 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Nov 16 (ANI): A lovesick Department of Immigration employee in Australia has landed in hot water after he sent about 7000 emails to staff members in search of a girl he met at a party.
Steve Tucker, who works in the department’s Canberra headquarters, now faces disciplinary action for misusing government computers.
His email about a mystery girl, named Olivia, was directed to an anonymous co-worker who had gone to the party with his housemate.
“Briefly, I met Olivia on the Saturday night just passed. She left a strong and positive impression on me,” the Courier Mail quoted him as having written in the email.
“Unfortunately, people got in the way after we met and I didn’t get to finish our meeting how I wanted to. This has been bugging me ever since.
“I understand this is not the most appropriate channel. It is not my intent to misuse this email address.
“I have struggled to write and send this message. It has taken all of my willpower to do so. Life is too short for regret. This phrase I know you all can identify with. Have an awesome Monday,” he added.
An Immigration Department spokesman revealed Tucker, who is a recent recruit to the Canberra public service, has not been sacked.
“It is an inappropriate use of the department’s email system but it is not a sackable offence,” the spokesman said.
Tucker’s punishment will be decided by the department’s values and conduct section in the next few days. (ANI)
