Louisiana voters rate Bush better than Obama

Washington, June 17(ANI): A new poll has found that Louisiana voters rate former U.S. President George W. Bush’s job of handling the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina better than Barack Obama’s in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico disaster.
According to Public Policy Polling survey, 50 percent of Louisiana voters rated Bush’s performance in 2005 as better than Obama’s.
The disappointing result for Obama came despite his efforts to work out a deal with British Petroleum (BP) executives.
BP executives have agreed to Obama’s proposal to put 20 billion dollars in an Escrow account to pay off claims of those affected by the oil spill.
The massive ongoing oil spill is now considered the largest offshore spill in U.S. history, as tens of millions of gallons have spilled to date.
The spill stems from a sea floor oil gusher that followed the April 20 Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion, in which 11 platform workers were killed and injured others 17.
The gusher, now estimated to be flowing at 3,200,000 to 6,400,000 litres of crude oil per day, originates from a deepwater wellhead 5,000 feet (1,500 m) below the ocean surface. The poll of 492 Louisiana voters was taken on June 12 and 13, and had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
Meanwhile, a Rasmussen Reports poll revealed that Obama’s approval ratings have hit a new low at 42 percent. (ANI)
