November 22nd, 2009 - 8:52 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 22 (IANS) The British police Sunday charged a teenager with the murder of an Indian-origin woman whose hand was chopped off in a shocking attack last week.
Sher Singh, 18, was charged with the murder of Geeta Aulakh, a 28-year-old mother of two, who died in hospital of head wounds Nov 16.
Aulakh, a receptionist at Britain’s largest Asian radio station Sunrise Radio, was found lying on the pavement in the west London district of Greenford, with her right hand severed from her arm.
Singh, who lives in nearby Southall, is to appear at Ealing Magistrates’ Court Monday, police said.
Eleven other men arrested in connection with the inquiry, including Geeta Aulakh’s husband Harpreet, have been released on bail.
Greenford and Southall are home to some of London’s largest Indian-origin populations.
